Description
This project monitors and analyzes the effect of the decline in the auto industry on the well being of displaced auto workers and their families and on the viability of communities in which they live. The resulting conferences include: 1) Automotive Communities and Workforce Transition and Adjustment; and 2) Three Decades of Economic Shocks: What has the Midwest Region Learned. The first conference, Automotive Communities and Workforce Transition and Adjustment, was held on October 8-9, 2009, and was sponsored by the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank, the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank, Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program, and the Upjohn Institute.
