Title

Regional Food System Mapping and Analysis

Project Dates

09/11/2015 -

Description

The Southcentral Michigan Planning Council (SMPC) and the W.E. Upjohn Institute recognize the need to better understand the agriculture industry in Southwest Michigan. To that end, SMPC and the Institute propose to close the information gap by conducting extensive research and surveys of the agriculture industry in Southwest Michigan. Furthermore, SMPC and the Institute plan to analyze the data to find unmet demand, excess capacity, and potential strategies that match local producers with local consumers. The better data set will enable matchmaking of local producers and consumers while also granting various groups the ability to assist agriculture producers.
