Title

SNAP-UI Dynamics

Project Dates

11/15/2015 -

Description

Funded by the Economic Research Service (ERS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Upjohn Institute staff members under the direction of Chris O’Leary will investigate the use of unemployment insurance (UI) benefits by Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit recipients. The USDA operates SNAP. The ERS has particular interest in interactions between UI and SNAP during the Great Recession that started in December 2007. The Upjohn Institute project is being conducted in conjunction with the Administrative Data Research and Evaluation (ADARE) consortium that is examining various aspects of SNAP usage across five states (Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, and Texas). This consortium is planning to produce a book that summarized the various states’ analyses.
