Description
Using economic development data from FirstEnergy, the question of whether the mix of capital and employment for larger economic development projects is shifting over time. The data supplied by FirstEnergy are for the period from 2002 to 2016 for three states (Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey) and later five states (which now include Maryland and West Virginia). While the more than 2,800 oberservations contain both retained and new employment, industry codes and location information, the robustness of the data are limited by only containing total investment without break outs of machinery, land, buildings and infrastructure.
