Title
Development and Implementation of a Data System that Generates Community Impact and Social Return on Investment of the Muskegon-Oceana Michigan Works!
Project Dates
08/11/2014 - 07/06/2015
Description
This project analyzed the economic/community impact of the Muskegon-Oceana MWA (Michigan Works!) organization and estimates its cost-benefit ratio to the service area. Analysis were accomplished by: 1) reviewing the current data collection system and working with MWA staff to develop measures of community impact and social return on investment; 2) generating an estimate of the economic model; and 3) generating an estimate of the earnings gains and reduction in social service program participation of clients receiving services through the agency’s older youth, adult, and dislocated workers programs. The project resulted in a sustainable updating process that can be undertaken by WMA staff on a timely basis. Upjohn Institute staff members provided training for using and updating the data system.
