Title

Urban Growth Initiative Development Plan

Project Dates

08/01/2016 -

Description

The city of Kalamazoo and its partners are working together to develop an economic development strategy for the central business district (CBD) and its contiguous and associated neighborhoods. The framework for development in Kalamazoo’s downtown currently faces financial and operational challenges, thus impairing coordinated efforts for aligned development strategies and policies. The W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research’s Regional Economic Planning Services team will work with the city of Kalamazoo and its partners to develop an economic development framework that includes developing a consensus-building collective vision, identifying major projects that would facilitate growth, identifying resources and tools for investment and funding, and detailing a plan of action for implementing the strategy.
