Gender Employment Gaps and Geographic Mobility: Evidence from Academia

Grant Type

Early Career Research Award

Description

There are sizeable differences in gender ratios between occupations. In this paper, we postulate that geographic mobility imposed by some professions can help explain differences gender ratios across occupations. We first propose a simple model of joint occupational choice to support this assertion. Then, we plan to examine the predictions of the model in academic economics.
