Description
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has funded the Upjohn Institute to cooperate with the IDB to evaluate Brazilian public employment programs. Chris O'Leary will work with IDB economists to evaluate labor intermediation services, work sharing, and recent changes in unemployment insurance. The work will rely on data from program administrative records merged with Ministry of Labor databases called the Annual Relation of Social Information (RAIS) and Cadastro Geral de Emprego e Desemprego (CAGED) or General File of Employment and Unemployment. Preliminary estimates will be reported at a research conference in December, 2017 with a summary of results to be included in an IDB research volume planned for 2018.
