Title
Benefit Generosity in Workers' Compensation Insurance
Project Dates
12/06/2018 -
Description
Understanding how social insurance benefits affect behavior is important for determining optimal social insurance benefits. This project seeks to understand the impact of workers' compensation benefit generosity on various aspects of workers' compensation claims, including on the length of time that people receive benefits and on the medical care that they receive. For this project, we use administrative workers' compensation claims data from Texas and study a change to the maximum benefit amount in the Texas workers' compensation system. As workers' compensation provides for workers if they experience workplace injuries or illnesses, this project will inform key parameters of an important social insurance system aimed at protecting workers.
