Title
Estimating the Economic Impact of Akron Children's Hospital
Project Dates
06/01/2018 -
Description
Akron Children's Hospital (ACH) in Akron, Ohio wanted to know the economic impact of their activities on both the region and the state of Ohio. Traditionally, hospitals are not thought to have a significant economic impact due to the substitution affect. But areas of specialization, notably providing specialized pediatric care not otherwise found in the region as well as a national center for pediatric surgery, combined with a strong data group internal to the hospital, makes estimating their impacts both possible and reasonable. The Upjohn Institute will partner with Dr. Shawn Rohlins at Kent State University to conduct the research and provide the final report.
